Where to go from here?

Todays weight = 238.6

I've been considering going to counseling for this emotional eating and to see if I can pull out of this  rut that I'm in. I think it may help to talk to someone about the emotional eating, empty nest syndrome and about all the life changes that I've been experiencing in recent years (divorce, loss of mother, living on my own for the first time in my life, entering perimenopause).  I think it would help to get someone elses perspective.  My health insurance pays for 4 free visits, that may be all I need.  If I choose to go longer I only pay $25/visit. Not too bad. I've been researching a few on the net becuase I want a woman that specializes in the issues that I have.  We'll see...

The weather here has been absolutely gorgous for the past several days.  It's really about time to turn of the a/c, throw open the windows and air out the house.  I've been itchy to decorate for fall but it's a little too early yet.  This weekend I've decided that I'm going to do a little shopping and treat myself to something.  IDK what yet, but something.  I'm due for a treat.  ;)

  1. I would go for at least the 4 visits to see if its right for you. It can't hurt. Thanks for commenting on my blog. When I get some free time this evening I will read yours too :-) It's nice to know others might be reading it and getting something out of it. We all struggle with the same issues in some ways. Good luck to you. I look forward to reading more about you later today

  2. Hi Sunny - I've seen several counselors over the years; sometimes one or two visits, and one of them for over a year. I highly recommend it! By the way, I love your blog and how you write; look forward to reading more (thanks for visiting my blog so I could "meet" you); I'm on my lunch at work right now. BTW, I love to walk, too, but live out in the boonies and am too afraid of bears & other critters. Would love a gym close by. I'll check out the Slim in 6 you wrote about. Take care and keep moving forward!

  3. Counseling is a great tool to figure out yourself and why you are doing the things you are doing. As for the perimenopause, I say make an appointment with your NP or DR and sit down for a long chat about the changes your body is beginning to do. I just did that and it was a huge relief and made me feel like there is someone on my team who gets it. Of course, it doesn't resolve all of my issues, but it does help.
Midlife is tricky territory. Our lives change pretty dramatically and keeping up with the changes and being optimistic about all the good stuff still ahead of us is hard work.
Hang in there. Buy yourself some flowers, a few squares of really good dark chocolate, take a long, hot bubble bath and sink down in front of the tv and watch some good funny entertainment (I Love Lucy stuff).
