Some of you have been wondering where I've been. I'm still plugging along and still doing well. I've lost 8.2 pounds this month (I'm at 221.6 this morning) I can't wait to get out of this decade!
Our shopping trip last week was a success. I got 13 shirts/sweaters, one pair of dress pants, one pair of shoes and a Steve Madden handbag :)
I haven't been around for a week (posting or commenting). Don't take this personally - it's not you, it's me. Lol! For some reason I couldn't bring myself to even read blogs. I also like to read home decorating blogs and I couldn't even bring myself to read those, so it is nothing weight-loss related. I easily get burned out with the internet. The main reason is because my job requires me to be on the computer all day and when I go home I need a BREAK! I've never been one to get addicted to social media - I don't do Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flicker and so on. I have no interest. I just feel like I need a small break from the blogosphere to recharge.
I'll probably catch up with everyone today. I'll be around here and there, I'm just hitting the pause button for a little while to give my mind a break.
Have a great weekend all!

Feelin' Like Fall
I've been doing well with my September challenge and I've lost almost 8 pounds since the beginning of the month. My clothes are slowly getting looser/fitting better.
Today is my Friday; I'm taking off tomorrow and Monday for a nice long weekend. My DD and I are going shopping out of town tomorrow and Saturday (2 different places - each about an hour away in different directions). We're going to a combo of thrift, consignment and regular stores and we're going to Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. We both want to get some new fall/winter clothes. I can't wait! I'm hoping I will have more luck with finding clothes since I've lost some weight. We all know it's not fun shopping when you're overweight. I'm hoping that I'll find some new stuff and it will make me feel good and help me to stay on track - when you look good, you feel good and vice versa.
The weather has turned cooler here and I'm ready for fall! Last weekend I went to an orchard and bought apples, mums, pumpkins and gourds to decorate my porch and my office. It looks good and very cozy! I know my neighbors are jealous, lol ;)
Well, that's about it for now. Next time I post I hope to be able to tell of all the fabulous new clothes that I bought.

Mind Games
I have a couple things that I feel good about this morning:
I'm down .4 from yesterday.
I have a pair of pants on that used to be too tight and they are actually getting a little baggy in the crotch area, lol.
The shirt that I have on today is 'longer' than usual, so something is shrinking ;)
Yesterday was another on-point day. I played the mind games with myself all day to keep me on track and challenged myself to not eat anything else after dinner. My portions are cut way back so I ate just enough to feel satisfied but definitely not full. The hungry feeling passed within minutes ;)
One day at a time, with John Lennon's lyrics running through my head, I can do this. Remember that great old song?

Pushing Myself
September Self-Challenge Update:
Good news. I've been pushing myself hard with exercise and I've cut way back on food and I've lost I've lost 5.2 pounds since September 1 when I started the September Self-Challenge. Yay! I weighed in at 229.8 this morning.
I decided to do something to really push myself because for the past two months I've been yo-yo-ing, and I could see the scale slowly starting to go back up (about 5 pounds up!). Oh, Hell no! Hence, the challenge was born.
I'm going to see just what I can do this month. I would LOOOVE to get out of the 220's - lofty goal, but I'm going for it.
I set mini-challenges for myself throughout the day:
I'm also keeping a log, as a kind of experiment, to see if I lose any inches, and to see how my skin, sleep and mood are affected. It will be an interesting month.
As for today - the sun is shining, I'm alive and life is good :)

Challenging Myself This Month
I had a great, long birthday weekend. Yesterday was my birthday and my DD treated me to a manicure/pedicure and lunch wherever I wanted (and the glorious purse that she gave me early). I chose Panera. I had the Strawberry Poppyseed Chicken Salad with lowfat poppyseed dressing. I resisted the bread and chose an apple as my side, which I took home. I had unsweetened tropical hibiscus tea. My DD said that she felt bad that since I'm primal and trying to lose weight that I didn't have a birthday cake. She was going to make me one but didn't want to sabotage me so she suggested that we get a pumpkin muffin at Panera and share it as my "birthday cake". Not primal and I'm sure it was fattening, but it is a hellova lot better than eating a slab of cake with frosting. It was a nice, light lunch that hit the spot.
After that we went shopping around for a little while and later in the evening she cooked me a steak dinner with sautéed portabella mushrooms and onions. Delicious.
My Dd is also doing primal and she's lost 18 pounds so far. She is slim but wants to lose a couple more pounds. She came up with the idea for us to challenge ourselves for the month of September to see how much weight we can lose - not a contest with each other - just a contest with ourselves - to push ourselves into high gear. I thought it was a fantastic idea! So the September Self Challenge is on!
