Move Forward

This mornings weight = 241.0.  I'm happy to report that I've lost 5 pounds since I got back on track.  Yay!

I've been working on gaining control of my eating and exercise.  I've been switching things up everyday with exercise so I don't get bored.  I feel more in control these days and I like it.

Several days ago I went for my second visit with the counselor and we continued to talk about the empty nest and emotional eating.  She asked me what I've been doing about it and then said to me several times, "You've got this!  You've got this!"  That made me feel good and like I'm on the right track.  I told her that I still have that feeling like I'm in a rut that I can't seem to get out of.  She said to imagine yourself in a rut with really high sides to the right and left of you and a road straight ahead of you.  What is the easiest way out?  To move forward.  LOVE IT!!!

  1. One of my favorite sage pieces of advice ever was a tidbit that I picked up years ago in O magazine. It said something to the effect that when a storm is coming, a cow will run and hide, but a buffalo will put its head down and keep moving. Both animals will get wet and be shaken, but the buffalo will move closer to its destination. My silent mantra whenever things get rough is to remind myself that I am like the buffalo.
Keep moving; you do have it.

  2. I've found that when I start doing the right things for myself in terms of eating and exercise, I get this calmness and a sense of confidence that I will make progress because I am doing the right things. I try to remind myself to keep doing these things because they will get me down the path to where my goals are. I know it won't happen quickly, but it'll happen. You've experienced success in the past, so you already know this, just keep reminding your self. :)

  3. Congrats on getting back on track and losing weight. I do love what the counselor told you about getting out of the rut. It's great advice. Also love hankypanky's advice.
