DD and I walked 2½ miles yesterday. I was out of breath walking up the hills but nothing that I couldn't handle or had to stop for. It felt good to get moving again and to work my heart and lungs. It's amazing how fast you can get back out of shape, isn't it? We also did a 10 minute ab video. It's not long but it is a killer. I felt like stopping close to the end but I pushed through and did the whole thing. Yay me!
It was so warm yesterday - like 60° and sunny. Unreal for January in Virginia. I sure did enjoy the sunshine and fresh air. Now this morning we have snow flurries. Weird.
Thursday is payday so I'm starting back at the gym. I need to get some new workout clothes and a new pair of shoes. I will feel so much better to have something cute to work out in, plus it will make me want to work out more, too.

Anyone have thoughts on protein and weight loss? I keep hearing about how good it is for you, so I'm upping my protein through my foods and now also through my drink to see if I can tell a difference. Yesterday DD and I bought this protein shake powder. You can mix it with water or milk. I mixed mine with 1% milk this morning. it's actually pretty good, it tastes like chocolate milk mix, like Nesquick or something. It has 25 grams of protein per scoop. I was so full between a glass of that and a cup of steel cut oatmeal with bluberries (my new favorite breakfast).
Today I weighed in at 221.8. Down exactly one pound. It's a start in the right direction.
I've read your previous blogs. Like you--I gained back weight I lost last year to a previous effort. I'm happy that we're able to get back on board!
ReplyDeleteI hear wonderful things about protien for dieting. It fills you up, and helps cut the fat. I'm not taking any protien supplements, but my new regimin (I'm one of those folks that have to follow a strict routine. WW gave me too much freedom and I lost nothing!!), is highly centered around gobbling down lots of lean meats and legumes.
You can do it! Glad to know there's some one out there trying to start up again, just like me.
I am a big fan of protein. My only wish is that I was a bigger fan of protein than carbs (and not the good kind!) Seriously though, it is great for building muscle and making your feel fuller for a longer period of time. I would love to up my protein and reduce my bad carb intake!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are back on track, Sunnydayz! Thanks for dropping by at my blog. Keep up training!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried powder. One conscious change I have made in the past couple of years has been to eat more lean protein. Given my druthers, I'd be a carbs-all-the-way girl.
ReplyDeleteFrom a carb-a-holic, I can tell you that when I limit my carbs and increase my lean protein intake, I feel fuller and don't get hungry as easily. I'm no doctor or dietician or anything.... just my own personal observations using myself as the guinea pig! :)
ReplyDeleteBig hugs & good luck!
Hi Sunnydayz, I'm popping in to read your post about protein. I'm annabetter life! Anyway, how many times a day will you be using the protein powder? I'm so excited to find out if it works. I'd love to hear if you find it helpful... maybe we can compare notes! BTW great job on the a.m. work out!
ReplyDeleteI too think protein is super important, I haven't eaten as much as I'd like to lately, but usually I would eat over 100 grams a day :)
ReplyDeleteannabetterlife - right now I'm just drinking the protein in the morning. I use a half a scoop with about 8 oz. of 1% milk. Anymore than that sucks up too many of my allotted calories for the day. Still, that one drink gives me about 20 more grams of protein daily.
