Trying New Foods

I had a nice relaxing weekend.  My daughter treated me to a manicure and pedicure at the beautiful day spa where she works. Later that afternoon she came over and we had a nice visit. Yesterday I didn't do much at all. I did do a little exercise (arms and squats) and my eating was on point all weekend.  I thought for sure I was going to see a drop on the scale this morning but it was actually up 1.4! WTH??? When I saw that I could have screamed because there is no logical reason for the scale to be up that much. There is no way that I ate that many calories - I could see a small fluctuation, but 1.4? IDK wth is going on.  I just gotta keep at it and hope for a big drop tomorrow.  I'm just going by the way my clothes and shoes fit. Yes shoes - my feet are shrinking too! :D

NSV:  My DD told me that after I left the spa that a woman that she works with asked her how much weight I lost and that I really look good. Yay!

Little by little I'm changing my food over to more healthy options.  I bought coconut oil to try.  I'm not at all familiar with it but have heard that it's supposed to be more healthy. EVOO is still my go-to, but I was curious about coconut oil and since I've been hearing a lot about it, I decided to give it a try. What's surprising is that it is in solid form and doesn't smell like coconut at all - it doesn't smell like anything, and the texture is not as smooth.  I used it to sautee green peppers and I like it. This 16 oz. jar cost $3.99, not bad at all.  Anyone else have any advice/thoughts on coconut oil?

I've also subscribed to Mark's Daily Apple and now have a ton of reading to catch up on about primal eating.  I've been reading it here and there for a while but I thought it was time to subscribe.

I can't believe that Thursday is August already! This year is flying by.

That's it for now.  Make it a great day!

  1. Sorry about the gain; that scale can be a bitch. LOL

I LOVE coconut oil, and would never go back! I use it in place of oils AND Pam; I don't trust the long list of ingredients in Pam.

Glad you had a lovely weekend. When are you going to get that pc working at home? LOL

    1. I need to cough up the $ to get unlimited data plan at home. I got a small package and it got sucked up in no time. Hopefully this week.

  2. Hi Sunny, sorry to hear the scale is being mean to you. I am confident that you will see better results soon. I would love for my feet to shrink. They have been swollen for over a month now to the point where only one pair of shoes fit. Of course they are the scuffed up pair that I was ready to throw out and now I have to wear them to work. I am so embarrassed. I need to try walking and see if that helps. My doctor thinks I am retaining fluids because of the weather. We'll see.

Hope you have a great week.

    1. Thanks. I had that swollen feet/ankle problem for a long time, especially since I sit down all day at work. As soon as I'd leave work and get moving around the swelling would go away. I hope yours does, too. Hot weather definitely makes it worse.

  3. Hi Sunny, I bought coconut oil early this year for the first time. I use it as a replacement for olive oil to grease the pan for cooking. When I don't like what the scales read, I step off and then get on again. I shoot for the best 3 out of 5, sometimes 5 out 7. My scales can give different reading by up to a pound sometimes.

    1. I thought of doing the OCD scale dance but didn't feel like giving it that much power today, lol.

    2. Don't get discouraged - the scale isn't always the best measure.

  4. My husband had the same problem today! He was up 1.2lbs for no good reason. Sometimes I think our bodies just mess with us. It could be so many causes that won't be there tomorrow. I'll bet you'll be back down in no time. You're doing so great and congrats on the compliments! Isn't that the best feeling?!

  5. Coconut oil is great for cooking foods at higher temps, olive oil is great for low temps/salads :) $4 that is amazing. I went to the store and a tiny jar was over $10. I'll stick to my olive oil and canola oil... lol.
