Starting to tell a difference.

Todays weight = 244.2.  My goal was to get to at least 245.9 by today so I'm THRILLED!

I've been sticking to the squat challenge schedule; I have to break the squats up into sets, but I'm doing it.  I've also been walking or doing a workout dvd every day.  Sunday is usually my day off from exercise but it was raining and yucky yesterday and I was stuck in the house and I thought I can sit here and watch tv or I can get up and exercise so I did a 45 minute exercise dvd.  I kept thinking - you want that scale to move so what is going to take for that to happen.  Get moving!

I've really noticed a big change in how I feel and with the weight coming off when I dropped the grains and nearly all sugar.  I was floundering back and forth between the same 5 pounds and when I decided to drop grains it kicked my weight loss into high gear.  Practically no cravings anymore either.  Yippee!  It feels so good to be in control.  I've started to notice a tiny bit of a diference in my clothes and I noticed that my thighs aren't rubbing together near as much - for a fat girl to notice that is great! Lol.  Giant NSV!

I wish that I could like black coffee so I can delete the creamer.  I only use a tiny bit of flavored FF creamer and a tiny bit of FF half and half - no sugar or sweetener.  I tried to drink it black again yesterday but I just can't do it so that is a little sugar that I'm not going to be able to get rid of.  I cleaned my pantry out of all the grains that were still lurking and not being eaten.  Boy did that feel good.  I was talking to my DD about dropping the grains/sugar and she and her BF are going to give it a try too.

I feel good about my progress in April and I'm so close to 15 pounds gone and close to a new decade.  YES!

  1. That's awesome--I know how hard you've been working and your dedication to exercise is really paying off. I make my own creamer by mixing together 1/4 organic heavy whipping cream with 3/4 organic 1% milk and a few teaspoons of really good vanilla. The fat in the cream and the natural sweetness of the vanilla have solved my sweet, milky coffee dilemma. I definitely recommend the organic dairy, however, as fewer chemicals make for a more craving-free body.

Did you ditch all the grains? I don't think I could part with my brown rice or fiber rich dark bread (no sugar or dairy in the last). I do notice that when I eat other grains, my sweet tooth kicks in.

Anyhow--you're doing super great; keep up the good work.

  2. YAY you!!!! You are doing AWESOME!

Try organic half and half. For the first few days, it'll be 'I miss my sweetened coffee', but honestly after that, it's just fine. And GOOD for you! I enjoy it now, because I feel so saintly drinking it that way. LOL That 'saintly eating' high is better than the sweetener. I bet if I tried to go back to the old way now, the sugar taste would be disgusting. ;)

  3. Mel - Thanks for the idea about the creamer; I'll bet it is really smooth. This may be an idiot question but when you say 1/4 and 3/4 do you mean cups? Just didn't know if you make a batch at a time or a serving at a time.

I ditched all grains. I'm only eating meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables. I didn't know if I would be able to do it but it has been surprisingly easy, so far. The only thing that I miss is having something crunchy - like crackers.

Gwen - Thanks! yet another vote for organic creamer...I'm going to have to give it a try.

  4. Great progress!! Good for you cutting out the grains and sugar. I like Mel's idea re the vanilla extract. I just bought some flavored teas, so I'm going to try cutting back on the sweetener I add. Great job on the exercise too.

  5. I mix mine up in a jar, so I just eyeball the proportions. Definitely treat yourself to some really good vanilla; I can find it at a great price at TJMaxx or Marshalls.

I am going to have to try giving up all the grains. I know I'm a crunch maniac, but I know it would be good for me. I'm pretty sure I could give up everything, but I don't know about the brown rice--I love that stuff.
